Regional Tour Beginning in Truro to Launch New Fundy Connect Web Space
Cumberland, Colchester, Amherst, Millbrook First Nation, Oxford, Sipekne’katik, Stewiake, Bible Hill and Truro will soon be the latest regions to embark on a provincial initiative to better communicate information about all the things to do and places to see in Fundy.
‘’We are happy to assist communities in the Fundy Region through the provision of one centralized location where residents and visitors alike can check out what’s going on in their community,’’ says Peter McCracken, Regional Manager - Fundy Region, Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage, ‘’Fundy Connect is something we have heard communities and municipalities asking for and we are happy to be part of the delivery.
’’FundyConnect.ca is a web space where users can find events, attractions, programs, trails, things to do, and places to be, in and around Colchester and Cumberland. Users can also upload information about their own community events and happenings to assist with advertising efforts. ‘’Fundy Connect is a one-stop-shop searchable database. We are very excited to be involved in this initiative, and feel this is a needed and useful service, and one our residents will appreciate,’’ says Craig Burgess, Manager of Recreation Services for the County of Colchester.
The web space will officially launch on November 17 with a cross-region tour with the first stop being the annual Tree Lighting in Truro beginning at 7:30pm. The tour will include the Fundy Connect Titan Truck rolling into many community events over the next 5 weeks. When folks see the truck they are invited to chat with the Fundy Connect Ambassador to get some fun giveaways, and learn more about how the web space works.
“It’s been great to partner with the different municipalities in the region to put forth this comprehensive resource for our communities, ‘’ says Bill Schurman, Director of Recreation for the Town of Amherst. ‘’We are very excited about the web space and are looking forward to the Launch and the Mobile Tour.’’
Please visit www.fundyconnect.ca to search what’s happening in the region, to share your community events and programs, and to view the full Fundy Connect launch schedule where the Titan Truck will be visiting.
