Junction Road 12The reconstruction of Junction Road in Springhill will continue Monday, June 12, with the excavation of the street from Main Street to Queen Street.

Street closures and traffic accommodations will be in place.

An email notice, from the school, is being sent to parents and guardians of students attending Junction Road Elementary School.

Beginning Monday, June 12, until further notice, the sidewalk on Junction Road from Main Street to Queen Street will be closed. Students who normally use the sidewalk on Junction Road are being asked to follow the route of Wolsley Street and turn onto Queen Street to access the school.

To ensure student safety, the regular crossing guard will remain on the corner of Main Street and Junction Road to direct students, and an additional crossing guard will be posted on the corner of Main Street and Wolsley Street.

Dexter Construction was awarded the $7.292-million contract to reconstruct Junction Road.

The Junction Road project will see a completely new streetscape with a new urbanized right-of-way, including sidewalks on both sides of the street, concrete curb and gutter and new asphalt. The project will see a new water main as well as the replacement of the sanitary sewer along the right-of-way and a new stormwater system and replacing ditching with a curb and gutter.
