The Municipality of Cumberland has completed changes to the River Hebert Transfer Station to meet Nova Scotia Department of Environment and Climate Change’s new regulations for construction and demolition (C&D) transfer stations and the handling of chemically treated wood.
Chemically treated wood (i.e. pressure treated lumber) will be required to be separated from construction and demolition debris before arriving at site.
Mixed loads of C&D and chemically treated wood will not be permitted and will be rejected.
Roll-off dumpsters will be on site to receive materials from residents.
Construction and demolition (C&D) debris will be required to be placed directly into the appropriate dumpster at the transfer station site. Users will not be permitted to dump any C&D debris directly onto the ground.
There are no changes planned related to the disposal of brush at the site.
