Meghan Bragg was born in Cumberland County and was serving as a town councillor and deputy mayor in Westville. She passed away on Monday, July 31.

Municipality of Cumberland Mayor Murray Scott is extending sympathies on behalf of himself, council, municipal staff and county residents following the passing of Meghan Bragg,

Bragg, 37, of Westville died on Monday, July 31, 2023, following a brief illness.

“It’s with deep sadness I learned of Meghan’s passing. She was someone who, throughout her life, has always advocated for the less fortunate and for those who lacked a voice,” Scott said. “She was dedicated to improving the lives of those in her community by advocating for better social welfare programs, more affordable housing and equitable education opportunities.”Bragg Passes

Meghan Bragg was born in Cumberland County and was serving as a town councillor and deputy mayor in Westville. She passed away on Monday, July 31.

 

Bragg was born and raised in Cumberland County, the daughter of Kathy and the late Ross Bragg, who served in the provincial legislature as the MLA for Cumberland West and Cumberland North between 1988 and 1995.

She held a bachelor of science degree in health promotion from Dalhousie University and had worked with Nova Scotia Health since 2010. She moved to Westville in 2011 and was elected to town council in 2020 and served as deputy mayor.

Arrangements are in the care of MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home & Crematorium. There will be no memorial service. A private celebration will be held later.

“Meghan spent her life in service to others and will be remembered as a giving person,” the mayor said. “I will personally remember the times our paths crossed and the positive impact she had on many. Meghan’s family is in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.”
