Prior to the installation of residential water meters in Springhill, customers were billed a flat amount, at the beginning of each quarterly billing period. With the meters now in place bills will be prepared at the end of the quarterly billing period.

As a result, newly metered water customers will not receive a water bill in April 2024.

The meters were read during the first week of April to capture the initial reading. Meters will be read during the first week of July to capture the reading for the end of the quarter. Going forward water bills will be issued quarterly based on usage plus a base charge. Usage is normally calculated as the reading at the end of the quarter minus the reading at the beginning of the quarter.

The first quarterly water bill based on usage plus a base charge will be issued in mid-July 2024.

The Cumberland Water Utility encourages you to check for leaks in and around your property as you are now being billed based on your water usage.  Please see the attached document describing how to read your meter, including the leak indicator and flow indicator. These tools can be useful in assessing if there is a water leak on your property.
