Glen Boone is Cumberland's new planning and development director

Glen Boone is experiencing a homecoming of sorts as he joins the Municipality of Cumberland as its new director of development and planning.
Boone worked as a development officer for the municipality between March 1988 and March 1991 and was also a property mapper with the Nova Scotia government, based in Amherst, from 1997 to 1999.

Aimee Hirtle named Municipality of Cumberland's finance director

Aimee Hirtle has always had strong Maritime roots and childhood connections even though she was born and raised in Alberta. Those connections have drawn her to Cumberland County as the municipality’s new director of finance.
Hirtle’s parents live in Sackville, N.B. and she remembers spending many summers vacationing in both Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

Cumberland County mourns passing of Gardner 'Bud' Hurley

The Municipality of Cumberland is mourning the passing of former warden and county councillor Gardner ‘Bud’ Hurley.
Hurley died Sunday, March 5, at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. He was 90 years old.
All flags at municipal facilities across the Municipality of Cumberland have been lowered to half-staff in his honour.

The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the operational (day-to-day) and long-term upkeep of the Municipality’s facilities, assets, and related infrastructure through risk management, asset management, business management, and operations and maintenance.
Facilities include but are not limited to recreation facilities, community centres, and tourism and cultural assets.
Cumberland County reviews new fire service delivery model

The Municipality of Cumberland has taken the first steps toward reviewing a new model for service delivery for fire departments within the municipality.
The hub model of fire services was presented to members of an ad hoc fire services review committee on Wednesday, March 1, 2023.
The hub model would see four of the municipality’s fire departments identified as hubs including Pugwash, Parrsboro, Springhill and Shinimicas.
