Painting by Pugwash artist showcases Wallace area history

Louise Cloutier wants nothing more than to see a piece of the Wallace area’s history become more widely known across northern Nova Scotia and the rest of the province.
The veteran artist was thrilled to have been given the opportunity to show the Wallace Swing Bridge in its glory more than a century ago, completing a painting that depicts the bridge in operation in the late 1890s – a painting that has taken up permanent residence at the Wallace Museum.
Joggins added to prestigious international list

The international accolades continue to come for a significant Cumberland County landmark.
The Joggins Fossil Cliffs has been added to the International Union of Geological Sciences’ list of First 100 Geological Heritage Sites in the world.
The places featured on the list were chosen because of their unique geology and their contributions to science.

Council approves Clear the Deck report recommendations

The Municipality of Cumberland is taking the next step in implementing its Clear the Deck initiative which will put the municipality on the path to thinking and acting as one municipal unit.
During its October regular meeting, council accepted and approved the recommendations within the Clear the Deck report that was announced last winter and presented in late July.
